Taming an IMP...
I've spent most of today trying to tame a little IMP. Not a little fairy; an IMP in the form of the webmail application Internet Messaging Program that sits on top of the Horde Application Framework. It's a PHP application that utilises lots of different modules. According to the test program, I've got all the modules configured correctly and the logon page is displayed. But when I hit the logon button the POST form it doesn't go back to the web server. Wierd!
On the DIY front, Dad helped my build the internals in my new built-in wardrobe. It's looking good. Just need to get a few loose ends tidied up and the painting done.

garan's blogIt's bloody tipping it down!
It's bloody tipping it down as they say in Wales!! We're definitely into Winter now. Done a lovely job of washing the road muck off my car.
http://www.blackwoodemc.co.uk/ went live at 8am this morning. If you want to know more about the company, have a look at their latest press release.
In DIY mode at home at the moment. I'm in the middle of creating a built-in wardrobe in an alcove in my bedroom. The French doors are in place. Still got the plasterwork to finish off and the internals to create. Going for the big push on the weekend. I'm sick of having piles of stuff everywhere.
On a computer side of things... I've got to put a blog up for my mate Al.

garan's blogPlaying with templates
I've been fiddling with the style sheets that sit behind this web page. I've changed the fonts a little. Not as fancy, but a little clearer to read I feel. The page didn't look right on my work laptop screen. Found out why - it's because Movable Type's default CSS uses font size names (e.g. small) instead of actual numbers. So I changed the default font size on my web browser to smallest and it now looks okay. Maybe I should look at using absolute numbers.
I had an email off my cousin John. He is now the managing director of the only commercially available and accredited EMC test lab in Wales. Go and have a look at their website http://www.blackwoodemc.co.uk/. On second thoughts though... Probably better to wait until I've finished the real site. That's my job for this evening.

garan's blogMy first blog entry
It's taken me a couple of days to get my blog up and running. A couple of techinical problems got in the way. All sorted now.
Today, being my birthday, seems like a good day as any to start my blog. It will reside at http://garan.org/blog. I'm planning to use it to keep track of things that I'm doing. To start with I'm going to publish and be damned. But I can see me ending up with two blogs - a public blog and a personal blog.
I'm now going to work on a template. My friend Brian has sent me a list of places to have a look at for templates. I'll start there.
